I visited TEPCO’s Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station in Niigata Prefecture.

As Minister of State for Nuclear Emergency Preparedness, I visited Kashiwazaki City and Kariwa Village, Niigata Prefecture, on July 23 where TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc.)’s Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station is located. I met with Mayor Masahiro Sakurai, Village Chief Hiroo Shinada, and other concerned members, and exchanged views with them regarding the status quo of the power station. The details of our discussion with them appeared in the local newspaper of July 24.
