‘Finance Education for High School Students’ to familiarize them with finance

A social activity called ‘Finance Education for High School Students’, which aims to enable the students to learn basic knowledge about finance as if they were playing a game or quiz, has been ongoing so that students might be familiar with finance in the future. For this purpose, the ‘All Japan High School Economics Quiz Tournament’, commonly known as ‘Economics Koshien’, has been held once a year for the past 13 years. (Koshien stands for the All Japan High School Baseball Tournament at Koshien in Osaka City). In the high school level curriculum, neither ‘economy’ nor ‘finance’ is recognized as a subject. Consequently, many students tend to be weak in economics and particularly finance at the time when they start to work in the society, and it is said that the insufficiency of their knowledge of finance has resulted in Japan’s delayed progress in the international finance market.
