Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aidarbekov visited my office in the Ministry of the Environment. We renewed our acquaintance, and I promised him that Japan would cooperate with Kyrgyz in its environmental issues.
The Kyrgyz Republic is located in Central Asia between China and Russia. It is a country governed under the parliamentary system and the principle of democracy. I have been acquainted with this country for more than ten years both officially and privately. Kyrgyz is still a developing country, and its people are working diligently for the development of the country. It is worthwhile for the Japanese people to get closely associated with them.
So far as this young and brilliant Foreign Minister Aidarbekov is concerned, he was the Ambassador to Japan until quite recently, and visited my office frequently so we have known each other very well. In mid-October, immediately after I was appointed the Minister of the Environment in early October, the Ambassador was appointed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic. Consequently, the two new Ministers have resulted in exchanging greetings with each other.
